For instance, I'm beginning at the shoulder. If you prefer to start at the bottom, simply commence from the bottom corner. (Variations noted at the conclusion of this message)
Step 2: Zip ties
Begin by fastening the first zip tie roughly 4 inches from the shoulder edge, then space them every 2 inches thereafter.
Follow this pattern: Let the larger segment near the shoulder/collar be dyed blue. For the remaining sections, alternate between red and leaving them white.
Step 3: Tie Dye Time
Ensure you wear gloves and work over a plastic surface on a drying rack. Carefully squeeze out the dye from each section of the shirt that is zip-tied. (This image demonstrates the process, not the actual shirt.)
Setup: For optimal results, lay out a garbage bag and utilize a baking rack. This setup prevents the dye from pooling and merging underneath.
Step 4: Wrap
Wrap the shirt in a grocery bag and place it in a warm area for 6-8 hours. Afterward, remove it from the bag and rinse it thoroughly with warm water. Repeat the rinsing and wringing process until the water runs clear. Carefully cut off the zip ties, then continue rinsing and wringing until the water is clear. Proceed to wash the shirt in the washing machine with soap. Once washed, dry it and it's ready to wear!
